A beautiful, lime white painted, solid wood kitchen in Shepton Mallet, Somerset

This barn conversion kitchen was in a bright light room with both a window and skylights. The warmth of the blocked oak worktops and reclaimed pine flooring contrasts with the clean crisp lime white of the cabinets, giving a modern farmhouse kitchen effect.

A multi-function central island was a major feature in the design of this kitchen and Simon and Alex had clear requirements for this. It includes a sink (reclaimed from their farm) with traditional individual taps, rather than a mixer tap for purity of separate hot and cold water. The island cabinet is a food preparation area with cookbooks tucked into a bookcase built into the side. A dishwasher is housed discreetly behind a door. After the food preparation is complete the central island cabinet also functions as a dining table.

Simon and Alex had an Aga and wanted kitchen pan drawer cabinets to fit either side of this; extra heat resistant panels were used between the Aga and the cabinets. To maximise storage space they also wanted storage cabinets either side of their large Amercian-style fridge freezer, with a bridging cupboard overhead; and a tall larder cupboard, which was fitted to the side of the kitchen.

Simon and Alex came to visit us on recommendation from a previous customer in Wells, Somerset.
